I'm embarrassed to admit that I made two really bone-headed moves in the last 24 hour. One of them was actually long ago, but I just discovered it.
The first was not checking the price carefully at the grocery. I'd made a special trip to pick up a few really good deals. One deal was out, but I scored a few dollars savings on the others. I looked at the frozen turkey breasts while I was there, because I didn't get as many Thanksgiving leftovers as I wanted. Seriously. I left my turkey at my sisters so she could divvy it up with my parents. And I really like turkey.
Anyway, to make a long story short, the 3-lb breasts weren't $6 each, but rang up at $11.99 each. I bought two. I was surprised when my grocery total was $50, the highest it's been in months, so I checked the prices. Sure enough, it was some form of frozen chicken that was $6, not the turkey. I could've returned the turkey, probably, but I didn't. I'll do my best to try and enjoy it, but it might stick in my throat!
Second, I went to cook a frozen hamburger patty today. I remembered buying a pack the other day. Also about $6. I checked my chest freezer and the freezer on top of the refrigerator to no avail. Finally I discovered them. Sitting on the counter beside the refrigerator. Where they'd been for 2-3 days. At least. Yuck!
No real moral to this story other than don't be a frugal dunce. Like me! :-p
